On March 13, KTM (Koole Tankstorage Minerals) opened its doors to over 60 ambitious students from Erasmus University for a practical day. This exclusive day arose from a request by Trefoil and Burando, and proved ideal to provide more context beyond the theoretical framework. The main focus was on the physical activities involved in trading and distribution. The students had the unique opportunity to get an in-depth look at the day-to-day operations, challenges and successes of Koole Terminals. As they explored the facilities, their observations were insightful. One student remarked on their tour experience, “the substantial amount of pipes and cables, but especially the safety measures on site caught my attention”.
“This day promotes the bond between academic institutions and business. In addition, we also feel a social obligation to enthuse and inform young people.”
Sales Manager at KTM Aukje Tops, is very content with the practice day and pleased with the positive reactions from the students. For Tops it was a logical collaboration: “This day promotes the bond between academic institutions and business. In addition, we also feel a social obligation to enthuse and inform young people”. The students were given a tour and the opportunity to engage in conversation with professionals and thus gather first-hand experiences. Aukje: “This not only paints a realistic picture of the possibilities within the sector, it also shows the innovations that are involved with the energy transition. And this contributes to the positioning of the sector as an attractive future employer.”
